CLAUDIA DOROSHENKO IS A UKRAINIAN DESIGNER BASED IN NEW YORK. DOROSHENKO HAS TRAVELLED EXTENSIVELY IN UKRAINE FOR THE PAST DECADE, CREATING INDEPENDENT FASHION PROJECTS FOCUSED ON THE TOPICS OF APPROPRIATION, CULTURAL ARCHEOLOGY, AND CRITICAL IDEOLOGIES. DOROSHENKO COMPLETED HER STUDIES AT PARSONS SCHOOL OF DESIGN IN 2020, WHERE SHE FOCUSED ON SOCIAL, CULTURAL, AND HISTORICAL ISSUES, OFTEN TAKING INSPIRATION FROM HER UKRAINIAN ANCESTRY.
THE CLOTHING THAT DOROSHENKO PRODUCES IS A VISUAL EXPRESSION OF HER RESEARCH INTO SOCIAL, POLITICAL, AND CRITICAL WRITINGS, AND IS CONSIDERED A MODERN AND THOUGHTFUL INTERPRETATION OF MORE TRADITIONAL OR HISTORIC STYLES. SHE HAS INTERNED WITH DESIGNERS — ANTON BELINSKIY, MARY KATRANTZOU, PASKAL, AND PROENZA SCHOULER; AS WELL AS ARTISTS — NADIA KAABI-LINKE, RICHARD PHILLIPS, AND PIOTR UKLANSKI. DOROSHENKO HAS ALSO WORKED AS ASSISTANT DESIGNER AT AUTEUR STUDIO. GIVEN THIS EXPERIENCE, SHE IS INTERESTED IN FINDING CONNECTIONS BETWEEN ART AND AFFILIATED CULTURAL CONCEPTS. MOST RECENTLY, DOROSHENKO HAS BEEN LOOKING INTO TOPICS SURROUNDING UKRAINIAN IDENTITY.
DOROSHENKO WAS BORN IN CHICAGO, UNITED STATES, AND LIVED IN BRUSSELS, BELGIUM; KYIV, UKRAINE; AND NEWCASTLE, UNITED KINGDOM, FOR SEVEN YEARS BEFORE RETURNING TO THE UNITED STATES. AFTER LIVING IN DALLAS AND OBTAINING A FRENCH BACCALAUREATE, SHE MOVED TO NEW YORK CITY.
